New year new me? #briliantorbullshit

So it's the 4th January and surprise it's the new year which means you have probably already been bombarded with Instagram posts and Facebook statuses filled with memories from the year before and peoples grand plans for the year ahead.

If you are anything like me the start of a new year can trigger lots of emotions, it can give you a great starting point to start something new and give you that push to reach certain goals or aims that you might have.

However sometimes a new year can bring you anxiety, worry and concern about what the year ahead may hold for you. For some people the start of the new year is a time that they actually reflect on the good but also the bad things that they experienced the year before.

There are many reasons some people find the "new year, new me" catchphrase an annoyance because they see no reason to change the way they are or the way they have been. When I hear people say those small four words  it shouldn't mean they want to completely change themselves as a person because realistically that isn't going to happen, however I do think it should be a time that allows people to set goals and plan out how they might realise them.

The start of 2018 for me has been a hard one, I feel I have let my thoughts run away with me and maybe set my sights to big, however on reflection I have realised no plans are to big if you believe in yourself and set realistic goals. Things do not happen over night and with success usually comes some sort of hard work. What this post will hopefully help some of you do is realise that the new year doesn't have to be a daunting thing. When people profess to have all of their sh** together they will face hurdles along the way but it is how they deal with these hurdles that determine their outcome.

For me 2017 was a year to get my life in order and focus on me, I wanted to build my confidence and appreciate my friends and family around me. Going into 2018 I am excited about what is to come, I have set my own personal goals that I hope will come to fruition but if they don't it is just one more thing to work towards.

Hopefully this post hasn't gone on too much but I hope at least some of you like it. I just want to say that there is nothing wrong with "new year, new me" but maybe "new year, better me" would be a lot less stressful and much more attainable.
Love you all!
