A long weekend away: Amsterdam
So last weekend from the 31st July - 3rd August I visited the wonderful city of Amsterdam. I had been to Amsterdam once before when I was about 12 years old and all I remembered about the city was the overwhelming amount of pancake houses, its easy to say thats not what stood out for me this time. I have been to quite a few european cities but I must say Amsterdam has proved to be my favourite so far. It is such a liberal city, its multi cultural everyone seemed immensely friendly and the majority of the people working within the city centre spoke tremendous english. Feeling comfortable walking around and exploring the city made the scenery even more spectacular. Amsterdam's canals are unique to the city and they are just beautiful. I was blown away by every street I walked down, the street art was to die for, every part of the city was quirky but in a subtle way and I loved it. This may sound silly but even the street lamps were beautiful and quaint, they were black with an almost victorian style covering not really like your average english street lamp haha. Below I'll post pictures (excuse the excessive amount) and list a few of the places that I suggest you go to or do when visiting Amsterdam. I didn't get to cover the whole of the city in 3/4 days but there is no doubt about it I will be going back. Enjoy.
